I heard about ambigram for the first time when I read Dan Brown's Angel and Demons. Since then, I have been amazed by how the ambigram looks. It is artistic yet very intelligence because you need to imagine on how it looks when you see it one side to another whether it is correct or not. The ambigram will be really cool when you make it as a tattoo design. Very artistic but also creative. Not only for tattoo you can also make the ambigram as a tattoo design.
